Pride Week: Sunday

by Ellie McHale

With Pride Week at an end (even though people are still out celebrating), I’m disappointed that I didn’t get to go up to San Francisco today. This was the first Pride I’ve missed in years, and with marriage equality the law now, I so wanted to be in the throng! This entire week, I wanted to celebrate! Next year, though.

To round out the week long series, I give you Ms. Dusty Springfield. You didn’t know she was bisexual? Well, now you do!

If I had any semblance of a decent singing voice, this would be my go to karaoke song. Always and forever, I love this song!!

I hope everyone enjoyed their Pride celebrations and plan to continue to celebrate love throughout the year and until the end of time. Remember, love conquers all, even if it doesn’t seem that way.

Peace out, y’all and have a wonderful week!

Pride Week: Saturday

by Ellie McHale

Another late post, y’all!!! I completely lost track of time. Seriously, I thought it was Sunday. I think I might have a bit of the premenstrual brain. While this post will go up on Sunday, please know that I started to write it on Saturday! I promise.

Here’s an amazing song, one that should be on every love song playlist:

Joan has gotten me through some tough moments, and I am so grateful for music.

Hope everyone is having an awesome Pride weekend, whether you are out reveling in the city, or are at home with loved ones.

Pride Week: Friday

by Ellie McHale

Bloody well finally! It’s the middle of 2015 and marriage between consenting adults, regardless of their gender and sex, is legal. It took long enough! What a perfect time for this to happen.

Of course I have to work both Saturday & Sunday, so cannot revel in the streets of San Francisco with everyone. But, there will be more than enough people celebrating! What a joyous occasion! [I’m really hoping no one screws it up and wreaks havoc in the streets. Everyone, whilst having fun, please be safe!]

Tonight, I’m sharing with you one of my favorite albums: Bitter, by Me’Shell Ndegeocello. Please go and buy it. It’s money well spent. Seriously!

Seriously, folks. What a momentous day. Celebrate in the best way possible. Love! Be love! Share love! Give love!!!

Pride Week: Thursday

by Ellie McHale

Hey loves! Sorry to post so late! It’s been a long day, and I just remembered that I wanted to share a video.

I love REM, always have, always will. This is one of my favorite songs and it always lands on any Chillout playlist I create.

I wish I had gone out tonight to celebrate with everyone, but I was too tired. Tomorrow night might be promising though! Have fun, everyone, and please be safe! Go with love.

Pride Week: Wednesday

by Ellie McHale

Howdy! How’s your week going?

Here’s a little midweek pick me up. If you need a 25 minute break, enjoy Queen at LiveAid.

Enjoy the rest of you Wednesday. Remember, you are loved.

Pride Week: Tuesday

by Ellie McHale

Happy Tuesday! Hope you are all doing well.

Here’s a lil’ George Michael cover from one of my favorite singers, Reina Williams.

Go forth and love!

Pride Week: Monday

by Ellie McHale

Happy (San Francisco) Pride week!

Every day this week, I plan on sharing a song done by a LGBTQI+ person in celebration.

Today, I give you a favorite song by one of my favorite singers:

Brandi Carlile is such a fantastic musician and she never disappoints. This song makes me get misty eyed, yet smile every time I hear it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Song Obsession Sunday: Foy Vance – Closed Hands, Full Of Friends

by Ellie McHale

Why haven’t I been listening to Foy Vance all these years? He’s been around and making beautiful music for, I believe, two decades. This song makes me smile, laugh, dance… What a powerful and fantastic song!

Song Obsession Sunday: Sylvan Esso – ‘Coffee’

by Ellie McHale

I want to get back in the habit of posting every week. Song Obsession Sunday is a great place to start!!

Let’s get real for a moment. I am one of those people who can get sick of a song that I don’t like (and, by default, an artist/band) if I hear too much of it. This is why I try and avoid listening to any radio station that plays current music.

This is a song that I’m certain pretty much any music fan (nerd, obsessive, geek, blogger, reporter, journalist, DJ, etc.) has heard. If you’re sick of it, I apologize. I bought the album soon after it was released and this is my favorite track from it. The video locked in my love for the song. I apologize for sharing it long after it was released, but it’s back in heavy rotation right now.

I give you ‘Coffee’ by Sylvan Esso!

Song I Hate To Love: Alt-J

by Ellie McHale

We all have things in our lives that we are ashamed we love. The are the things we hate to love. As I am a true hipster because I loathe current hipsters and their general “I’m an individual” mass mentality, loving Alt-J is something I hate to admit. But, as I want to be fair and talk about music, I should really accept the fact that ‘Left Hand Free’ makes me want to do the twist every so slowly.

Happy early Halloween!

Many apologies for the lack of upkeep. I’m going to set aside one day per week to post, even if it’s just a paragraph or a video. Don’t remember to check out [Not So] Daily Ellie and A Life In Paperback! Also, I’m testing out a new blog that might not stick: Finding Love In Myself. Check it out if you’d like. It pertains to PCOS & my personal journey with it. I’m open to feedback and am giving it six months.
